iSmart and iNewJob
This blog is rather silent lately, and that’s for a reason: There are some changes happening in my life.
Firstly, I signed a contract with CETel (www.ce-tel.com), a nice company with a very relaxed campus atmosphere that’s providing global satellite and teleport services. I’m going to work in the role of Teleport IT System Administrator and I will be taking care of an interesting global network. This is a very welcome change: My job will be about technology again, and not about “flex sheets” and other bureaucratic BS.
The second change is related to the job: I’ve been without a car since 2003, but now I’ve bought one again. And I’ve bought a model that you normally wouldn’t expect from me. I bought a (used) Smart. Yes, one of those small chairs with a windshield and a steering wheel attached to them. It’s all that I need and only walking is cheaper than driving this baby. It’s a yellow-and-black beauty. I’ll post some pics later – it’s been raining since a couple of days here, and I don’t want to post sad looking pictures.
So that was the official update for now. It’s possible that I’ll be posting more about Cisco routers and satellite technologies in the next months. And server software. Or whatever else that might appear interesting and, of course, is not of confidential nature.
I can also not yet tell how much this new job will change my private life and my other ideas, dreams and projects. My girl friend thinks that it’s about bloody time for me to buy that MIDI bass guitar and do more fun things. Good point, I’ll take that under serious consideration.
