I love it.

After a fruitless attempt from the content mafia’s lawyers to ban the Piratebay from the Internet, the pirates are back online and ridiculing their persecutors.

Maybe the copyright owners should wake up to the reality of the digital age and realize that their last century business model no longer works.

I’m sure that people are still willing to pay for quality content, but they want to download it directly on its release date and they do not want their files to be infested with absurd DRM malware.

So why can’t I download a copy of Iron Man 2 TODAY? I don’t want to go the cinema. I don’t need a hard copy on DVD or BluRay. And I certainly don’t want to pay a hilarious price for a DRMed copy.

It’s the year 2010. What’s so hard to understand that the old distribution channels are no longer adequate?

Dear copyright owner, just give me a download link to a DRM-free, legal HD-rip and you can charge my credit card up to, let’s say, EUR 4,99 for a blockbuster movie and up to EUR 2,49 for older movies.

But instead of providing me with that service you rather make a joke out of yourself and try to turn back the wheel of time. Here’s some bad news for you: If you don’t embrace the new technologies, those technologies will make you obsolete. Thanks to the Internet, artists no longer need your distribution and marketing channels. They can reach their audience directly, without having to sell their souls to you.
