CD Projekt Red. Their default setting is to make games that should have become TV shows. Why? Because their cutscenes are actually great – but the gameplay ALWAYS sucks and their game worlds are simply not interactive enough for the type of game that they are. The worlds are just a shallow facade with brain-dead NPCs that have nothing to tell unless they are part of a quest. Just compare the average NPC from Night City with the average NPC from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I rest my case.

2. Rockstar Games. They made it an art to worship the worst of the worst lowlifes and the bottomless abyss of criminal human nature. I deeply despise literally everything this studio has created.

3. From Software. I think I already said my piece about Elden Ring. Their games evolve around exactly two things: Killing for the sake of killing and at the same time frustrate their players as much as possible. Their game worlds — look — interesting on the surface, but are soulless, empty facades with nothing to tell. Fans of this company badly want to believe that the storytelling in these games happens through the world itself, but there simply is zero evidence to be found when you actually spend time exploring their game worlds instead of just butchering one constantly respawning monster after the other. There simply is no hidden, deeper meaning or story to be found. It’s an illusion From Software fans WANT to believe in.

So, there you have it.
